We went to school together for like a year but we never actually met back then. We just became friends when he added me on Facebook and we started messaging and we've grown pretty close. At first I didn't think he had a crush on me or anything, once I found out he liked me he never really flirted with me or anything so it was fine. He'll compliment me here and there, has admitted to having a crush on me, etc. He's never been creepy about it or asked me for anything sexual so I have no reason to stop being friends with him but I can tell he's becoming more and more into me every day. Lately he's started doing grand gesture type things and I'm not sure how to react anymore.
A month ago he surprised me with plane tickets to go see one of my best friends that I haven't seen for years. I politely declined at first but he insisted, saying they were already paid for and no refundable etc so I went to see her and I was really grateful to him for that. My birthday was June 2 and I got to see her on June 5 so he chalked it up to a birthday gift. However after he did that he started to get really clingy. We only communicate through Facebook, he reacts to every single thing I share, even has notifications when I post something so he gets to it first, he'll message me and if I don't reply but he sees I'm back online, he'll message me again, I assume right when he sees that I'm active. It's gotten to the point where if my messenger goes off at work, my coworkers automatically know who it is and say something like "Uh oh you didn't reply fast enough." He's also mentioned hurting my ex which I know he wouldn't/couldn't but?
He really is a good friend and I enjoy talking to him and everything, but I don't remember ever giving off a vibe that I like him back, if he flirts with me I usually just thank him and move on, etc. I mentioned yesterday how all my bills were due at the same time and woke up today with $200 that he sent. I haven't accepted it, not really sure what to do.

I should mention that he and my friend live in the same town and when I went to see and we met up and all had dinner as friends, that was the only time I've actually met him. He barely said anything to me the whole time, mentioned he was having a bad day but that was kinda odd.
