So I told my friend recently that I liked him but now he cares about me more and he acts a lot different to what we were used to before. Like when I was drunk one night at a work event he made sure I was okay (before he never really cared to check) and when we went to play basketball with our work friends he made sure I was comfortable with them.

He waited for me before we went out and made the other coworkers to wait for me too bedause I had to stay back for unfinished work - he usually doesn’t do this or cares about me to this extent

why would he do these when he said no in the first place?

He seems like a generally nice guy too. Concerned about you, your safety, comfort etc. He really seems like he cares. Give him some time outside of work to get more comfortable with you. I think he will risk if he can trust your judgment and behavior. Hope this works out as you wish..
