I think that when a guy starts to treat you poorly for long enough, eventually he begins to resent you for sticking around. That resentment starts to manifest as hatred or anger, like now all of a sudden the same face you’ve likely always made is annoying or confrontational to him. Or he picks little things to start an argument for the sake of arguing. I know it doesn’t make sense, like if you’re nice to him and doing what you’ve always done, why is that now making him respond this way? But he’s doing this bc he wants you to be the one to leave him, and since you won’t, he feels trapped.

I get that he has personal things in his life going on, but he shouldn’t use that as an excuse to treat you poorly. If this behavior means love to the other guy who commented, then I couldn’t imagine what other toxic traits could define it for him. Love is not belittling, verbally attacking and traumatizing your partner.

communication issues. he is asking a legit question and being "aware"... which is good. Maybe he isn't doing it as lovingly as he could learn to. He's asking about what you are expressing... or holding back, and you aren't being open and are defensive. maybe you aren't even aware.

But the very nature of love is to pay attention. It sounds like there's something about your behaviour that's different. It is a blessing to have someone who is paying close attention to you. Often times there's things about us that we are completely oblivious to.

If the conversation you wrote is how the discussion went down. Then both of you need to seriously work on how you communicate your feelings to the other. There's a lot of unneeded escalation, the way you're heading, you won't be together for long at this rate.

It's important to him that you confide in him, it sounds to me that you keep things that bother you to yourself. Or at the least, you don't disclose it to him fully.
He is deeply in tune with you. You have a very good guy, I know it may be difficult, but appreciate a character like this, he gains syre gfh through sincere emotional dialogue. It's part of his love language. It's important that you speak to him often about how you feel and what's on your mind so he knows exactly how to care for you.
It's the emotional distance that's causing him to flare up and probably behave in manipulative ways.
He may even be using sudo anger as a way to enrage you into saying what's truly on your mind.
I don't know you personally, I can only go off what you've disclosed but I can confidently say based off our interaction, that you will need to be more vulnerable In this relationship.
