Guy grabbed my waist?

Went on a date with a guy and after our date, he held me by my waist pretty tightly while we were saying goodbye and looked at me as he wanted a kiss.

I didn't kiss because he had just smoked before and I wanted to do it on the2nd date when I knew him a bit better.

But his grip was pretty tight.

What was the point of this and is this a red flag?

No its not a a Red Flag... he was just trying get a gauge on where you were on the kiss. At the end of my first dates I go for a hug... if she hugs me back then I might go for the kiss. There is a right was and wrong way of course to go about it. So maybe the waist thing is just this guys move he uses before he decides to try for a kiss.

Its not a red flag unless it made you feel uncomfortable or creepy. I mean if you felt this way then this guy is probably not the one for you. Not every relationship starts with love at first sight, but if it makes you feel uncomfortable then maybe you should not do a second date.
