Why would a married man randomly introduce me to his wife even though I already knew her?

He greeted me infront of her (I didn’t know it was his wife, but I knew the woman.) and I smiled and she looked uncomfortable at the interaction and then he mentioned that this is his wife.. did he think I was interested in him?

No as that was for his wife's benefit. There may be a cheating history with your "type" that you are not privy too. Sometimes, those things are in the background.
