I also say I love you bye on the end of every call to my mum. A guy at work heard me say I love you bye then made an inhale sound not sure what it means.

Occasionally, we only speak on the phone a few times a year. Only see each other twice. She never forgave her youngest son (me) when he moved to America. She didn't speak to me for years. So, although better, the relationship is still fraught with tension.
