Why does a guy Im casually dating inquire into how much other men are interested in me?

He’s brought it up twice. He says things like, “you must have a ton of guys interested” and asks about if they weren’t interested then why etc

he phrased it like a compliment but I’m just wondering if he’s trying to gauge how desirable I am or if there’s something wrong with me? I can’t figure out why he wants to talk about this.

I've seen similar before. The guy was insecure and frankly couldn't believe she was interested in him because she was 'out of his league' looks wise.

He's worried a better looking man will come and steal you away. It can manifest itself in to being possessive behaviour but likewise he may genuinely be scared of losing you.

Turns out in the scenario I am talking about, she saw beyond his looks and liked him for who he was. He still can't believe she's in his life but he still gets a little insecure when other men check her out.
