How do you know when a person online is truly what they say they are?

I mean over the internet there are so red flags when a person meets online another one. Many perverts, scammers, sickos, sexual predators, murderers, among many other bad people out there. But Im sure there are a few who really are what they tell the other person they are. Even if the person lives in another city, still the person can be genuine.

How can you spot the real ones from the fake ones?

Are there signs even subtle ones that set them apart?

Im talking online with a guy for the past 2 weeks. He and I are the same age, according to what he told me. He seems real to me but Im just playing along just to start and check if I find something odd about him, that warns me "Ok this guy is a weirdo". So far I have not found anything. I had not met in person yet and I doubt I will meet him anytime soon anyway, he lives in anotehr city but we are just at this moment exchanging text messages, that is all, nothing more than text messaging so far.

When I used to go on sites to talk to people I’d ask them for a face picture first if there wasn’t one available on the profile, the photo looked real then we’d talk more of it looked fake I’d call them out on it and block them, as we talked I’d ask them about their works their likes and dislikes different little things like that to see if we had anything in common you can always tell a fake as if they lie they’ll mess up eventually, one guy said he worked for the NHS when I asked him what part he never replied obviously a liar, another said he worked for this elderly blind man he helped him at home the name on his jumper was from an elderly home another liar another said he worked with dying children it was a childrens home for abused kids another liar, you have to be able to spot even the slightest red flags. Just be careful with this person don’t give out any personal information, just be cautious and whatever you do don’t send sexual pictures.

So far he does not have a profile pic on his wathassp because he told me he works for the military and there are certain info or photos he is not allowed to exchagne due to security and cofnidential reasons. But so far he had not asked me to send him any sexual pictures but im not asking himn to do that to me either. We had stick to converstaions about his job, hobbies, his gym training food, countries, cities, our relatives.

Hmm to me now that’s a red flag, even if he works for the military he can send a face picture, I was talking to a guy in the army and he sent photos of himself in full uniform, what does he do in the military? Ask him what part of the military is he in, ask him questions about it and see if you can throw him off, he does sound off to me.

Ask him what military service he’s in, like is he in the army the navy or marines, ask him what division he’s in, ask him what the uniform consists of ask to see a photo of him in his uniform if he asks why tell him you find men in uniform hot he can send a photo of him in uniform if he refuses then you know he’s a liar. So far I had asked him about him sending a photo in his unform eh says he will but so far he has not. Currently he told me he is in Afghnasitan helping some children there with some other group of soldiers. But ia have asked him military different questions about his rank, he is in the army he told me. But it seems he is botehre each time I ask him about military questions. I dont know that is what I sense he does not like. I told him I dont live in the USA im not familiar with military stuff and Im just curious to learn. I told him that it seems he mind me asking and he said to me: "Not at all but if you wanna, Google can assist you and I can as well help you still". I mean maybe he is tired of beign asked questions about his job over and over again? I mean i dont live int he USA and im not familiar of army stuff so is hte reason I asked.

The reason he is bothered by you asking is Likely due to the fact that he’s lying, not sending you a photo either is a sign he’s a liar as well, why would being asked about your job annoying? It’s only annoying if you’re lying as you don’t know what to say and you have to think, and not sending the photo seems odd as well, it’s seems to me like he’s hiding something.

I found him first on IG and from there he sent me 2 pictures of himself, they did look real though and there he told me he was in the army and he has 49 years old.

He told me he was in the army and now he is in Afghanistan helping some kids for some reason the phone he has that is not military property is not working well with the connection and he asked me that in order to have a better connection so he can text me free on Whatassp or text to his son or his family (he is divorced) he needs $100 so he can buy extra connection in Afghnasitan. I dotn know how things in Afghnasitan with internet anyway, as that country is poor and have bad connection services could be, but just the fact for him to ask me for money so he can buy extra charge, definiltey a Red flag. How come he is in the army and dont have super excellent phones or super high quality connection to speak to anywhere he wants int he planet. But he will say he can't use military property lines to speak or to use it for social purposes. He seemed genuine in the beginning after 2 weeks of texting him as he never asked me for nudes or sexual stuff like some whacko or pervert.

If he’s asking you for money I’d definitely end things, the only people who ask for money are con artists, if the phones he’s got hasn’t got good connection then it’s the connection not the phone, they need to get better Wi-Fi, if it was me I’d walk away he sounds like a total liar.

Most people are hypocrites and they are not even true to themselves, which makes me feel sick. They seem very sweet in the beginning and once they don't get what they want, they turn on you, behave rude towards you. Its true that there are only few people who are genuine. Also, you should carry on with texts, then you should go with voice calls before meeting him in person. That would make you feel comfortable and see if he can be trusted

So far the guy in his mid 40`s had not asked me to send him naughty photos of any kind or ask me to do odd or strange things either. We only had been talking about his job food, work outs, places countries, etc etfc

Stick to it. Don't ever get into sexual stuff such as sending nudes etc. See if he can be trusted

So far he had only said to me im pretty and very attractive but hey even face to face a person say this to another one anway. he told me one thing thought that i dont know if it is a red flag or not but I will stick tot he texting sure. Like I said we live in different cities very far from one another so to see him in person it is a looong shot soon. He told me he is in the military and since he is in the military, he can't really exchange photos not even of him on duty or uniform cause the military that is not permitted, so he has to be careful what he sends as one phone he has is military property so he has to be careful what he sends. We exchange now from another phone he has, but still he has to be cautions what he sends. He does not have even a profile picture on his phone.
