What does it mean when a guy ask you to be his bestie but calls you baby, honey and stuff?

He ask me to be his bestie but calls me baby, we talk everyday and text from the time he gets up for work until he gets off. We do movie dinner nights, kiss, snuggling, and intimate things. We tell each other in text we miss one another and he said he wants to do this with me until death. We often tell each other how we feel for each other and what we enjoy, but the word I love you hasn’t been said. We also talked about him not using protection and how I would feel about him not pulling out. I’m confused. Are we besties growing into more? Should I see where this is going? Should I just take his word at bestie and that’s all we are?
