A man who wants a long-term relationship with you is going to focus a lot of energies preparing for that, and in vetting you for that role in his life. He also will expect you to vet him as well. Long-term compatibility is important, so you need to be able to openly and honestly discuss long-term compatibility issues, such as:

• Marriage
• Children
• Finances
• Religion
• Lifestyle
• Where you'll live
• Careers
• Household responsibilities
• Retirement planning
• Family responsibilities (will you need to care for a sick parent? Visit a distant sibling?)
• How you will parent (he's already got kids, so that's VERY relevant)
• Issues with his ex.

And anything else that's relevant to your situation. You want to figure all of that stuff out NOW, before you commit to each other, because a lot of stuff has to go right, and if it doesn't, then that's going to be a problem for the two of you. If you haven't thought about likely problems in advance, and developed a plan to deal with them, then there's a good chance the two of you won't be on the same page, and things will go badly quickly.

Yea I’m sure as I want a long term relationship. However I can say a million words and not convince anyone. It’s actions that show true intent. If I had kids I would tell a date about them but not introduce her until we were in a committed relationship.
