Yes, it's pretty sad that people can't accept that kids are kids. People should not force adulthood on kids. Mainly because predators will take advantage of that, but also because kids can't take care of themselves. The more people call a 16 year old boy a "man", the more he wants to go out and do adult things that aren't appropriate or safe for kids. The main example being underaged drinking

I agree, unless you’re talking about criminals. Last year, the Honolulu police shot and killed a sixteen-year-old. He had twenty prior felony arrests, had snatched a purse the previous day, and led police on a high speed chase in a stolen car leaving a robbery. When he rammed two patrol cars and tried to run over a cop on foot, he was shot.

I found it revolting hearing his family talk about this little punk ass thug as a “child.”

I have to agree- I think it's society-wide too.

Teenage boys occupy this weird space where between 14 and 18 they're being viewed as a growing man, responsible for their actions in full and are pressured to become more masculine and to start dating and to be strong and protective. Especially when it comes to sex.

However, that agency is taken away in a lot of instances because they're too young to gamble, drink, vote, etc. I hated being a teenager, and I'm glad I'm over that hurdle! 🤣

I'm 32 now but when I was 16 a work colleague of my stepmum got a bit tipsy at our house for dinner and was REALLY flirting with me- really obviously. I loved the attention because she was gorgeous but it kinda illustrates my point. Nothing happened of course but that was quite creepy.

So yeah, you're right- it is really creepy and I hope it changes, but we'll see

what separates a 16 or 17 year old from an 18 year old. in my opinion I generally agree with you but I've met some extremely immature 40 guys still living at home with their parents with no responsibilities and never having had a job, and on the opposite end of the spectrum some extremely mature 16 year olds who were living on their own and completely supporting themselves without any help, so I think it's less age than a mentality. in my opinion in that circumstance the 16 year old is more of a "man" than the 30 year old.
Also in some cultures boys were considered men as early as 12-14

Also the way you phrase the question makes it sound more like your annoyed at the teens about it than the people calling the teens men

It’s the same with boys or girls. I’ve known some mature, intelligent 13-year-olds and I had a 58-year-old roommate who was still being supported by her 83-year-old mother. Maturity is a state of mind and not an age.

How is it you can ask the opposite question of women? You wondered how under 18 ladies are considered kids yet wonder why under 18 men are considered men. Basically, you say under 18 ladies are women while under 18 men are kids?

OK. So from what I've witnessed, it all depends on the person's personality. There are many boys over 18 that are still boys and the same with girls. They're still immature and act like a kid. There's many men and women that are under 18 because of their mature mentality.
