If a guy had issues but liked you, would he be able to ‘get over’ them to be with you?

I really like this guy and I want to be in a relationship with him. He told me he likes me very much but he is weird. I don’t know what that means? He can’t seem to tell me what that means either. I don’t understand, if he doesn’t like me enough to want to be with me, why not just say? I finally gave up and he said he would get himself sorted then ‘do it right’ with me. What do you think that means? He is quite a shy awkward guy and he never made a move on me sexy wise. He has had a girlfriend before and that’s all I know about it. Surely if he liked me that much, he’d be able to just be with me?

Well, you can’t pull a relationship out of someone who isn’t ready, despite how much you want to be with him. Dealing with past trauma and how it affects someone in present time varies, and if he feels that it keeps him from being a boyfriend right now, then it’s fair that he’s letting you know rather than making you pay for what his ex did. It may not make sense to you, and probably hurts your feelings a lot but it is what it is. All you can do is respect his stance, and move on. Who knows how long it’ll take for him to desire a relationship but if you’re single still then, maybe that’ll be the chance for you two to give a relationship a shot.

This is what I struggle with, surely If he actually liked me, he’d want to be with me regardless? Why not just say you don’t want to. I don’t understand men 🤦🏻‍♀️
