A man that recently started talking to me offered to build me a house for free (he's a contractor). He likes me but we're not dating. Should I accept?

I have some acres that I've been wanting to develop. I jokingly told him one day he should build me a house since he has a license etc. He accepted and even told my dad to tell me to accept.

NOTHING in this world is free, and if you don't think that a man doing all that work isn't going to expect something from you, you are DANGEROUSLY naïve. In some states, under certain conditions, if he puts in improvements on a lot, he can eventually claim ownership of that lot. But that might be the least of what he feels you owe him.

"Free" should be a "danger word" to you, and whenever something offers you something "for free", the first thing you need to figure out is "how much is this going to cost me." Because it's GOING to cost you - it just might not be a monetary cost. But there WILL be a cost.

No matter what you do just be careful don't say anything not unless you read it all or even have a lawyer read it before you sign it with a good team he can pour a foundation that has to cure and then within two to three weeks you can have the shell of a house built for you now you need sheetrock Plumbing electrical so on just be careful of everything that you do

hmmm, you two actually might have yourself a binding contract. If you do not want him to build you this house and have expectations that you will somehow pay him back for it (non-monetarily), you'd better make sure you let him know. No one does something like that without wanting something in return.

Make sure it's built up to scratch and the contract states that no payment is needed in any shape or form and nothing is wanted in return, get a lawyer to look at it thoroughly, then get a safety inspector to look at it, make sure the house is in your name and make sure you are not obligated to pay any rent.

I highly doubt a man will go through all that work and not want anything in return from a woman, the only woman he would do this for free with nothing in return would be his daughter.
