Why are men obsessed with Meghan Fox when there are equally or better looking women on the streets?

Seriously I go to the shopping mall and see better looking girls but men are obsessed with celebrities? Celebs are only glorified because they’re high profile. There are women within their vicinity who are way better looking.

There are beautiful women everywhere I go, but I don't know their names or see them in movies, on TV, on media, etc. Guys obsess over celebrities because they are visible and known. We also obsess over beauties at work, or the woman we see each morning on the train, or at the coffee place, but we don't know who they are!

I don't think they are. Men generally don't obsess over celebrities the way we do. We tend to obsess over both male and female celebrities and then project that obsession onto men and assume they are the same. I see this a lot tbh.
