He thinks getting you pregnant will secure you. That you will be his girl only. Navy guys are famous for doing this when ships go out for 6 months or a year. They get their wives pregnant. I think this guy is thinking along those lines, however, he may not realize that being with a pregnant woman these days is a "thing".
