When guys are different with there friends than there girlfriends which version of them is the real them?

Im with a guy and he’s more masculine and likes to show off with the boys even when I’m around but then when it’s just me and him he’s a different person he’s more sensitive and vulnerable. I don’t really like the version of him when he’s with his friends he comes across a bit like an asshole if I’m being honest.

Depends on the guy and the situation, but in my case I was most myself with my girlfriend since I could truly be myself around her. Towards others i'd adapt to the situation, i'd still be myself of course but boost or suppress parts of me depending on what fits.

In your case I think its very much the same thing, holding up an appearance in front of his peers while being able to be himself around you.

The way human mating works is men have to compete for women. So when you have a group of men with women around, there's bound to be some jostling for attention and dominance.

When he's with you, that competition isn't there.

It also isn't there in environments where there's a group of men, but no women present. Because then the men don't really have to compete with each other for attention and dominance, so they tend to be nicer to each other.
