Did anyone else notice the fatal flaw in Terry Silver's three rules?

Obviously he's never heard of Brazilian JuJitsu which focuses solely on fighting on the ground, in other words without standing.

In a real fight, if you fall and you don't immediately get back up, you're dead. Either the other guy is gonna stomp your head in or one of his friends will.

That's why judo will always be superior. Why learn to fight on the ground when you can just learn how to not fall in the first place (and instead make the other guy fall)?

And before you come at me with the "but 95% of a-"

No they don't. Those statistics come from police records.. records of incidents which involve handcuffs. So of course most of those go to the ground.

You're not a policeman. So don't go to the ground. Simple.

The philosophy is that people are probably going to the ground in a fight, even if it isn't intentional. What if you make going to the ground advantageous to you.

Well it depends, cause even if you're on the ground you're likely still physically able to stand, where as if your no longer physically able to stand due to damage to your legs or another reason, you're not nearly as effective on the ground as a lot of techniques utilize your legs to defend, generate power, and for general mobility.

You can only fight if your opponent is with in striking range. Therefore a man on the ground cannot fight as long as you stay out of reach, which tends to be pretty easy if he can't stand

on the streets though... you definitely can mess up someone really bad from the ground, if you know how to... lol

Also in UFC and cage fighting. In the match between LaRusso and Silver, taking their feet out may work in a tournament, but their fight wasn't tournament rules

That's true. I just remember as a kid thinking Daniel was like 20 and Terry Silver was 40. As a kid that's how it appeared. When I saw him on the new Cobra Kai as an adult I was like wait a minute lol. I was blown away they're basically the same age.

Never heard of those rules, but if that is one then someone is definitely ignoring BJJ, and really all grappling arts.

Granted Karate Kid III was made in 1989, and the first UFC fight was in 1993, and the various styles of Martial Arts weren't widely known. I guess wreslting also relies on fighting on the ground, but your goal is to have contorl over your opponent when they're going to the ground, so it's a bit different. The bigggest difficulty against someone with wreslting is that they attack from such a low point it looks like they're attacking you from the ground.
