Guys, Would you keep after a girl for 4 years even if she seemingly gave you the cold shoulder, if it was ONLY surface level feelings/attraction?

I was once in love with a girl who acted like she was (romantically) interested in me too... But who was actually just 'friend zoning' me. I gave up after 1,5 years of trying. Way too long, I know, but before that I was dumped by a girl who did that because I myself took to long moving up to the next step (in that case: asking her to live together), and I didn't want to make that mistake with this girl by getting impatient about her lack of progress myself. But thinking back; the signs where there all along, and I should have ended it way sooner.

But 4 years? Never!

I'm not saying like they haven't dated anyone they have. Part of it did seem in part to make me jealous looking back on it. But it's not like I expect a man to remain celibate after I give them the cold shoulder cause I had no idea what was going on (I. e. They were flirting for years and trying to feel me out on it and I really had no idea it was happened at the time but looking back on it, it's pretty fucking obvious.)

But yeah this has been going on for 4 years or more and I really was not in the headspace to acknowledge it. But I guess I mean there must be something he really likes about me if he keeps trying in that area. The whole thing has changed now that I'm engaging with him on that level but a big part of me is a doubter I doubt what I see in front of my face. I doubt people's motives etc.
Which Is why I framed it this ways so I could get a general consensus cause this seems so insane to me he would still... After 4 years? After me being so cold to him and wanting virtually nothing to do with him... Let's just say there was a lot of misinterpretations for one thing.
