This is a great question. Isn't this the dichotomy, though? If guys are nice, women are suspicious, like the Asker points out. But if guys are not nice, that feeds in to some other stereotype.

But that's just philosophical, I guess.

Here's my answer to Asker: take it at face value. If the guy is a pig, he'll figure out a way to easily let you know that. In the meantime, accept the friendliness and appreciate it.
