Are side hugs awkward and weird to you?

I’ve only seen side hugs on the duggars and stuff like that but my friend does it too. Why can’t people hug normally anymore, is that forbidden or something? I think side hugs are for photos or people you don’t like or know well.

I was once on a train trip when I engaged in conversation with a woman who was somewhat younger than myself. I sensed that she was felt that I was 'safe' and connected with me in an attempt to allay her fears of traveling alone.

We disembarked at the same location and sat together until her taxi showed up. We shared a side hug when she departed.

That was the only side hug that I can ever recall experiencing.

It seemed very appropriate to me.

Yeah, I feel like side hugs are for people you don’t know very well. I personally prefer regular hugs 🫂

Same , side hugs are kinda awkward and impersonal for me , I’ve never given side hugs before meeting my friend so I feel awkward every time we go to leave.

No my mother's ex partner is 6foot 3 he used to shove me under his arm and give me a side hug. He was great.
