I assume the people who hugged you were women. I also assume that the hugs were not full body embraces.

It's quite common for men and women greet each other with a perfunctory hug as opposed to a hand shake.

Nah... not for that line of work. People tend to be more relaxed in the media creation space. You don't thrive in that line of work by being a rigid person.
