Guys, Why do I keep getting called Bestie?

Everyone at work keeps saying I'm this guy's "bestie" and I don't know what that means because we don't really talk or hang out like that. He does compliment me a lot and we're cool with each other but also he's into guys so I just dismiss it as being friendly. I'm just super confused why everyone else calls us besties. Any help would be great.
