So a man I’ve been seeing for a long time and I made our relationship official recently. We had gotten serious in the past six months or so but we have been sleeping together for over two years. I have always waxed down there, in the beginning I waxed everything but recently he started telling me that he doesn’t want me to wax anymore. It was never an issue before but for some reason he wants it all grown out, like not cleaned up at all. We have always been very open when it comes to sex and what we want so it’s sort of out of left field. I thought men likes things clean down there, why would this be an issue all of a sudden?

It's a preference for some guys, although of course it's not something you immediately ask to a girl. I prefer a full bush on a girl, but, personally, I felt more comfortable telling it to my girlfriend after some 6-7 months. She always used to be shaved extremely smooth, which was nice, but still, I had the preference for a bush.

It seems that keeping it clean isn't a deal breaker for him, but that he much prefers it more hairy. Similar to my preferences. My girlfriend was willing to give it a try. It took her some time, including back to shaving and trimming a couple of times, but now she is used to the full bush and feels comfortable with it. Maybe that will work for you as well, maybe not. For now, it's just a suggestion from his side, he is not demanding anything. You decide. You can give it a try, after all, it's hair so you can shave it or grow it back. If you really don't want it, you can tell him as well, and he should accept it. If you don't mind a bit of hair but a full bush is too much, maybe a landing strip or any other trimmed look will work out for both of you. You can also think of keeping it hairy in winter and bare in summer, some girls do that. But if you don't mind growing it out, you'll probably make him very happy and excited!

So, there's two things going on here in my mind. First, you ask a great question which is why this would be an issue. The short, easy answer is that people change. On this specific issue, my wife spent a lot of years with a full bush. She then decided to shave; her own thing, nothing I asked her to do. Recently, she's growing out. We all change; that's okay. But, people change their own preferences and likes/dislikes both about what they want for themselves and what they want for others. I get the sense that you may not be on the same page as him about the removal of your pubic hair. If you're not, then you have to first figure out in your mind what YOU want. If you like the waxing then own that -- that's valid. But once you know what you want, you and he have to talk. Communicate and figure out how important is his want to him and your want to you and how do you work through it. This was all a long way of answering your question of not getting concerned about why or second guessing his why and focusing on what you and he's solution will be.

Well, different men like different things. You should do what you like and not what he likes after all it's your vagina and not his. I personally wouldn't grow my hair down there because I hate how it looks and I feel like is not cleaned at all. No I don’t, but he will make comments about how I look when I go out and that men will be looking at me. He has no reason not to trust me and it’s probably not why he is asking me to let it grow but it just seems like the timing is weird to me. I just don’t know if that is something a man would even think about.

The comments about your outfits could be genuine insecurity, but it could also be a plain statement of fact (as in; it is factually true that you will attract men's attention by wearing that outfit); I would need more context to know. I'm a bit of a special breed when it comes to this stuff, but here's my take on the situation; the only time I would make a comment about a woman's pubic hair was if I thought she was making a bigger deal about it than I thought it was worth. I would ONLY make a comment like that as a way of saying "hey honey, I appreciate your effort, but don't put yourself through pain to please me."

Meh shaved, buschy, little hairy, super bald none of that really matters my girlfriend can do as she wants. And she prefers a little hair because its more easy to manage the sweating etc etc. Kind of like why we have eyebrows.

If he admits to not liking it, lol then he's just trying to make sure that what "his definition of you as hot" won't be shared with anyone else. I hope he is not super jealous type by the way. I did. Asked if he always liked a full bush and he said not really. And the type of porn he watches and the girls he follows on social media, NONE of them have any pubic hair which makes me even more confused.

Men can have different preferences for different women. Maybe he thinks a bush looks good on you, but probably he cares less about how the porn and social media girls look than how the woman he shares his bed with looks like. You're the only one he has sex with, not these girls from porn.

And the preference for a full bush can come at a later time. My first girlfriend kept it trimmed, which I liked, and later she decided to keep it shaved, which I liked as well. Second girlfriend kept a full bush, another girl I had sex with kept it shaved, and my girlfriend kept it shaved in the beginning of our relationship as well. It was only after a few months into our relationship that I realized I would want her to see with a full bush, and even after that she went back to shaved, trimmed, landing strip and various other styles. Sometimes it was nice for a change, but I found out that quite often I got bored of it quickly compared to the full bush. So it also took some time for me to realize the full bush is my #1 preference. And over time, my girlfriend has gotten used to keeping the bush and now she finds it very easy not to worry about it anymore, no shaving, no trimming, no stubble, no ingrown hairs, etc. Would I mind if my girlfriend would shave again? Definitely not, but I would hope she wouldn't keep it shaved for long.
