Do you think long haired guys feel competitive around long haired girls?

I recently went to an event where this dude was just obsessively playing with his hair… I wondered what was going through his head. I imagined him thinking his hair was better than all the ladies 😂😂

Grew my hair long during Covid lockdowns because it’s kind of a hockey thing and I wouldn’t have to go through the awkward phase in front of people. I usually brush it up and tie it into a huge poof of curls with a broad headband, I only wear it down when I play hockey or if I’m wearing a hat, which isn’t often. It’s a love/hate thing for me, but I figured I’d celebrate still having it all, lmao, and do it before I have any grays. Took a victory lap without my helmet before we left the ice after a big win last night just so I could toss it around and let the wind blow through it😂

I don’t feel competitive with women though. Women actually love my hair the most, I get a lot of random compliments. It’s kind of sweaty and matted in the gif, but it looks good dry😂

Based on a true story:
Once I had really long hair till my shoulders and it was NATURAL and all wavy, it was like a lion's mane and was looking like I used tons of conditioner and stuff. 😂😅

That's like wondering why men want to use ugly, boring-looking (in both shape and hue) bags only, and anything appealing, colorful, creative, when it comes to bags must be "for women".
Half a social rule (with the fear it entails to break it), half it's men's nature to like clothes and accessories (and hairstyles) like that.

I often hear "how great" my hair is, from some ladies... not "better than" just good, great.. what do I use and stuff (I don't really use anything in particular) but I would never feel competitive about it, that is just cringe to even think about

Having long hair as a guy is a lot of self learning because guys aren't taught about dealing with hair like girls are.

Nah... had thick glossy brown hair down to the middle of the back in the 80's, but that was more like being in the club back then. I was a bass player in a band that was active playing all the Bay Area clubs... black fedora, sharp grey suit, chameleon tie and snakeskin boots... That was a fun time in this life... musicians are usually a colorful lot tho

I don't think most of the guys feel competitive about that, but some of them can be. My hair is short but when I was a child I felt that girls competed for hair length. I felt hopelessly defeated because while most girls had long hair, I couldn't, because my mother made me get a haircut monthly.

When I had long hair, I never felt that way. Why would I? I was straight... and, when I was younger about 40+ years ago, guys having long hair was not uncommon.

Good question… I think I thought it… but then my colleague was like look at that dude constantly fluffing his hair 😂😂 so I then realised it was a pretty obvious behaviour that not just I had noticed 🤷‍♀️🤔

In another lifetime, I used to have shoulder length hair. I do NOT recall EVER competing with women's hair length. I DO recall spending WAY TOO MUCH time with a blow dryer in front of a mirror! LOL!
