Is it possible for my crush who never flirts with me to like me the way I like him?

He wanted to be an "acquaintance". He's a friend of a girl in my class and she's the one who told me about it. I rejected. But then one day he ran up to me and apologized in case he made me feel uncomfortable which is when I started developing feelings for him. I reconsidered and allowed her to give him my number. He messaged me the same day and we started talking almost everyday or every alternate day. He's the only one who texts first. I'm awfully shy and I can't get myself to text first no matter how much I miss him. He wanted to know what my hobbies were, what I did in my free time, books & songs I like, if I had siblings, how my day went, encouraged me about exams/studies, listened to songs I put on my status and even bothered to give feedbacks, compliments my hair, piano skills etc. Is he only trying to be a friend to me? Should I somehow stop myself from developing more feelings for him?

Sounds like he does like you. Yes, it could just be a friendship type of like, but it could also be more than that. You say he never flirts with you but perhaps his way of flirting is what he is doing.

He is trying to get to know you by the sound of it. That is always the first step. I know you say you are shy, but have you ever flirted with him? If so, what sort of response did you get? If you haven't, you might want to send out some signals.

Also, why stop developing feelings? I think that if you really do like him (more than a friend) you are going to have to be proactive at least a little bit. That goes back to when I mentioned flirting.

The problem here is if he is trying to flirt and get to know you and you show nothing back, he may just give up. Being shy isn't easy, but you don't want to waste an opportunity if you really like him.

I can confidently say that he is attracted to you in some manner. But i would continue to go slow and communicate and understand each other. Look online, spend time with yourself and find out what you want and what your looking for. And if you find yourselves wanting to be a relationship and things line up. Then go for it. A man wouldn’t go this far out of his way for a girl he didn't like. Usually a guy would just want to communicate on a dull or small level if he just wanted a friendship. But you never know. Everybody is different and thats why communication is very important.
