Someone I used to see called me and said he was single now. It had been a year since we saw each other and I had no interest in seeing him anymore. For once, I caught him lying a few times.

However, I agreed to meet. We went out on a few dates. After two weeks when I rethinking our relationship, he told me he sees as a friend only.

Why did he come back if all he wanted was friendship? At first he made me believe he wanted more than this.

See, you are completely ignoring somthing, and in the process making him look like an ass.
He got back in contact with you and wanted to see you again. You went on a few dates with him (even though you claim you weren't interested anymore). He saw something he didn't like in that time that made him want to back out. This happened while you were hanging out those two weeks. To say he had it all planned out to date you, and then pull the rug out and be friends is not true.
