Isn't it possible to be friends anymore after confessing?

I recently confessed to my close guy friend. And I told him I respected his answer and that I just want to remain close friends. But he started acting awkward. He started ghosting me when I try to text him. But when he sees me face to face it's another problem. One day he can act totally fine and approach me and ask me to help him with stuff. The next day he seems totally annoyed with me.

I already told him that I didn't expect anything more from him since he's not interested. I just want to be close friends. And he also told our mutual friend (this was before my confession) that if a girl confessed to him, he won't run away but will choose to remain friends. That's how I got the courage to tell him.

But why is he acting this way now?

Hey like you or he may not want to mislead you. Maybe if you say you don't like him, you guys can become regular friends over time. That happened with me and a male friend after he heard I was interested in other guys we were able to talk again like before.

People act like they will be fine but 1 out of ten actually oblige. give him time to cool off. He obviously is still processing his feelings for you and I think you need to give it some time. He might think he hurt you and you are normal around him. You being normal is making him feel weird about it. So just wait and see

If he said that then your lucky and it’s definitely possible. In any other situation the friendship is most likely over even without even saying it’s done, because some find it hard to look at the person the same again.

Yeah, it's totally possible. But YOU don't get any say in this matter, sorry. Give him time. Let him come to terms with this. If he doesn't, you just have to accept it. Much like he doesn't get a say in how you feel towards him. You don't get a say in how he feels towards you.

Sometimes it's like that. One may feel awkward being around someone we confessed to or someone who confessed to us. It's a risk one has to take while confessing.

Ehh, personal moral decision if your friendship values loyalty to wives/SOs… I would probably stay friends with my best friend, though I’m also friends with his wife.
