Why do a lot of guys want to "test" the social outcast/misfit?

I'm unconventionally unattractive & I absolutely despise being around others but I mind my own business & neve initiate any conversation with anybody

But regardless many & I mean many guys in my age group either love trying to provoke me subtly (smirk, snickering, frowning) when they see me or they simply try to get me to respond

I think it's their way of trying to assert dominance and it sounds like it comes from a ego thing. I have never understood why they do those types of things.

I've often notice that gals don't pay me much mind with the minor exceptions
