They're weird in that they think periods are weird and gross instead of understanding that's just something that happens in a woman's body.

They're weird in that they think periods are somehow embarrassing and we shouldn't talk about them.

They get weird because they are clueless about periods and don't the why, the how, or the physiology of it. In fairness, we cannot relate. There is not a single thing our body does that could help us sympathize, let alone empathize.

They get weird because their moms or sisters treated periods either like something shameful or embarrassing or didn't want to talk about it. Or their dads were grossed out by it.
