What to buy a teenage guy for valentines day?

My general gift giving guide is this:

• make it something they use often/every day (that makes them think of you)
• make it something that shows you've observed a detail about them

A small metal dog "pull" to attach to a backpack or sports duffel bag zipper.

A ballcap from their favorite team.

Something hand made -- it becomes precious and priceless and original.

Some sort of picture in a small frame. Of you, perhaps, or a place you know they like.

But, it's also 2023. Perhaps a Steam gift card. Or Starbucks. Or McDonald's. Your profile says "Canada", maybe Tim Horton's?

Hoodies are a great option, though they can be pricey. But guys like hoodies. My sons would rather die than not wear a hoodie. It goes like this: "Hey, Snow Flake, we have to go to the White House." "Can I wear a hoodie?" "No! It's the White House." "Oh, never mind, if I can't wear a hoodie, I'd rather stay home and do math homework." Yeah, hoodies are an option. :)

In all seriousness, another option is a pen or pens. My son's girlfriend has given him pens and -- hear me out -- they may not be romantic like flowers or teddy bears but every time he picks that pen up, he smiles.

So, money really isn't the issue, nor is fitting some sort of Valentine's mold. Make it personal (you've noticed them) and make it remind them of you.
