I think what you're thinking is that he might be into you, which he might be. But that doesn't mean there's any underlying reason in him saying what he said.

Okay. But I don't see any underlying meaning in it. He was telling you exactly how he felt. I don't see any mixed signal or message in that.

Right. I get that. But you asking what he means when he said he could talk to you better than his ex is like you're looking for something more out of it. He probably does like you, but there is no mystery in him telling you that.
