I think my crush just called me delusional in an indirect way?

I had this friend who I knew back then and for some reason we stopped talking and I always had a crush on him and so I wanted to connect with him again. I sent him a text on instagram and we'll that didn't go well, he basically asked if there was another reason as to why I'm texting him and I didn't want to look weird so I just said that I wanted to connect with an old friend. Anyways now he posted a new post on his instagram and the caption was about a rose being delusional burning or withering in front a love that's just an illusion. I mean I know I'm being delusional but hearing that from your crush lmao it just feels bad? It hurts lol. Anyways I don't know if it's about me tho, the reason why I think it's about me is that before I followed him on instagram I had a poem about a dying rose in my highlights and I think he saw it before I deleted it but yeah the whole thing is messy. Please feel free to give your opinion and um don't be harsh. Thanks

It does sound as if he actually was just waiting for you to send him a message to answer you with this quite direct picture.

I would suspect that perhaps when you stopped talking to him, he did not take it too well and it is as if he was just waiting for you to contact him again to send you this message that sounded like revenge to me.

Your best option is just to forget about him and not to attempt to contact him again asking what he did mean with his reply.

The question is however: why did you want to try to contact him again? Were you secretly hoping that something would have changed or that you could resume where you left off?

People change and it was to be expected that he would not take your attempt to kindly. Forget about this crush and move on. That is your best option. Should he attempt to contact you in the future, simply ignore his request if you don't want to find you in the same situation as the one you are in today.

You should not regret having attempted to contact him although I am sure that you must have taken the possible negative into consideration. If you don't try, you don't have anything. Too bad that it did not work this time.

Actually, it wasn't indirect. It was very direct, just done via insta and an artistic if hurtful way. But, yeah, sounds like bridges were burned, and although you're standing on your side of the bridge thinking about reconnecting and all he can see is the ashes of the bridge that was.

This thing is only messy if you pursue it. He's sent his message and it's a clear one. Be done.
