Old Crush has suddenly started liking all my instagram stories, is he trying to get my attention/show his interest?

So there is a guy I have a crush on, we used to date/fancy each other back in school but we drifted. Although he did try and reach out to me 6 months after we stopped seeing each other but I was in a relationship so nothing happened. We have always had each other on Instagram for years, but we have never spoken or really interacted at all in there. Anyway, fast forward 10 years and I’m newly single and I started to think of him as I saw his Instagram stories and thought he looked good, however a few weeks later he deactivated his Instagram (I know this as I searched him and he disappeared completely) so I decided after much contemplation to send him a Facebook friend request in order to get his ‘attention’ and weirdly around 10 mins after doing this he magically reappeared on Instagram again and posted to his story which I found quite odd. He later accepted my FB request that evening too… coincidence or? I didn’t say anything to him but the following day I put up a selfie on my story, he watched it straight away and since then he has liked Every single one of Instagram stories.. just to recap we NEVER interact on insta let alone like each others things but ever since I sent that FB request he likes everything I post, quickly too. I do the same back now as well. We still ain’t spoke though. So my question to you guys is.. could he be trying to show or tell me that he is interested? Or am I overthinking? Honestly I would love it if he was but because he hasn’t said anything to me yet I’m doubting myself. I remember back in the day him being shy and he would just stare at me a lot but never spoke to me… until we saw each other at a party and I guess he had some courage after having a few drinks.
This back and forth liking each others stuff consistently has been going on for just over a week now.

This is kind of romantic. ^ months and ten years sounds like enough time and growth to have a new life perspective. Go for it as there is nothing to lose and everything to gain. Yeah, I would do this in a heartbeat !!

Hmm, I think if he continues to consistently like my next few stories I put over the course of this week I am gonna have to just say something… but I have no idea what to say though!
Maybe I will literally just DM and say ‘Hey, how are you?’ 😂

Guess I’m worried that I’m reading the situation wrong and he will end up rejecting me and that would suck. So I definitely would rather wait for him to take the ‘risk’ of reaching out as stupid as that sounds.
