Does the guy I am dating still like his ex-gf?

I’m seeing a guy getting to know each other it’s been around 4-5 weeks. We hang out weekly and talk to each other. Recently when we are having lunch he talked to me about his ex girlfriend. He said “ when I broke up with her I thought this is it.. I will never find love again”
What did he mean by this? That he can’t find anyone as her?

Also he said reason why they broke up its because she didn’t want to have kids. He didn’t say because he didn’t like her or anything beside that — She left him because I wanted kids and she didn’t— he said this !

All this words kinda break my heart as because I consider myself polite , 30 years old he is my first proper date - never had sex so far. And knowing how he said “ he will never find love again “ while I’m sitting there looking great.. and ready to love him.. I want to cry..

Do you think what he said is serious or was he simply getting to open up and talk more?

I believe you're misreading what he meant. What he said was " when I broke up with her I thought this is it.. I will never find love again”, meaning he didn't think it would be possible to love someone else, or have someone love him. BUT, it could also mean that he's "finding it again with YOU", or thinks that he could love you and you could love him.

You're about 6 weeks into it by now? It's one of those things where you can bring up what he said and ask for clarification and see what he says. If it's positive about possibilities with you, let him know that you could see yourself reciprocating.

Key thing is to ask - you need to know exactly what he meant. Did he mean he could never love another again, or that he thought so UNTIL meeting you?
