Guy's Behavior

Is he shy or just not interested in me?

We have classes together in uni, he's generally a bit aloof and reserved. I've hung out with him a few times along with other friends and he's really nice and engaged in the conversation when I approach him first, other than that he's not very talkative. From what I've noticed he's like that with everyone and I don't blame him because I do the exact same thing with other people lol.

The only reason I even think he might be into me is because I've noticed him staring at me several times and immediately looking away when I face him. He's also almost always sitting right behind me in class which could be unintentional but on the other hand the halls are big and there are a lot of places to sit lol. I can't tell if he's just shy and being friendly when I talk to him and I don't know what to do because I don't want to be annoying if he isn't interested.
