What does he mean by this statement?

There’s a guy I know who’s chased me online and in person for a year. I asked what his motives were, if he wanted straight sex or a romantic relationship and he said preferably sex but we could be romantic if we had to be. What does this mean? I have Asperger’s and I don’t pick up on social cues.

I know he’s hitting on me but for what? Was he making and jokes or being direct? That’s not clear to me when it’s online.

How would he know what he wants if he doesn't at least date you for a month or so? Sure, he can say "yeah, I want a relationship" and then he spends time with you and finds out you are a neurotic psycho. Then what happens? He's an asshole, he told me he wanted a relationship.
