Why did he reject her?

My friend *Jack* is fat, unattractive and middle aged and not too bright, but he has a heart of gold. He’s a real sweetheart. He recently attracted through a meetup activity, an attractive, slim, articulate, intelligent, sweet and sensible woman in her fifties (10 years older). He blew her off really rudely and really hurt her feelings, because he thinks she’s too old. Why didn’t he just give her a shot? I don’t understand.

Some people aren't very comfortable with larger age gaps so it's understandable that he'd reject her.
I'm curious tho, when you said he blew her off rudely, did he say something mean? What did he do?
