Does it mean something when a guy adds you to his " close friends" list on Instagram?

I'll be honest with you. I do not use Instagram. At all. I am not claiming to know anything about usual instagram etiquette. I also do not know if there is any practical advantage to adding someone to your close friends list (example: If it means your posts get prioritized for him).

Regardless.

I think it's safe to say that it means something. Now whether it just means you're close friends, or whether it means more is hard to say. It depends on your relationship. But if this isn't a guy you are, (or are becoming) "close friends" with... then I would say that it probably means something.

If you are asking this. Then it probably means something.

If you were a legitimately "close friend" and he added you to his "close friends list"... you would be one hell of a weirdo for asking why? You wouldn't ask. You wouldn't wonder.

You would think: "Well, we are indeed close friends, makes tons of sense for him to add me to his close friends list. That tracks. I'm not ever thinking about this again"

But that's not what happened.

You thought about it. And wondered. And hoped, then thought you must be being silly, then you hoped some more. Then you wondered. Then you thought to post this question.

Pretty sure it means something.

Well then I would say that both of those things suggest he might be thinking of you less casually as time goes on. You can't read anything as being an unmistakable or clear sign of this. But it's certainly what both of those things suggest
