This guy I’m off and on with texted me and told me that he was going to be fasting from his phone and abstinence for a week and that if I texted him he probably won’t see it then he ended the text with calling me luv which is nickname he stopped calling me. I’m glad he’s fasting however I’m not sure if he’s lying and just needs a break from me or he doesn’t want me to hit him up in case he’s talking to another girl because you need your phone for family reasons and we’re in college so I don't know

To me, whether or not he’s lying about his motive isn’t the issue here. It’s that he’s essentially ready to not talk to you for a week that raises the red flag. I don't know what your history is like with him or what you want right now, for all I know you two won’t commit to one another because of school. But even if you can’t be together at the moment he should at least make you some sort of priority. The fact that he’s basically telling you you’re not one, to me, is concerning.

Girl, drop him. There’s no college aged man in 2023, fasting from technology. This is an obvious lie. If he were in his 40’s-50’s it would be more believable but even then if he really liked you, he would make plans prior to his fast to let you know he was still interested in you.
