I had been in an online relationship for two months with a girl whom I thought liked me, we were flirty, romantic and all, but then we broke up and I blocked her because she started acting desperate and clingy, and started falsely accusing me of being unfaithful, simply because I was busy with work and college, and wasn't as active online.
One thing to note is that she was never available to video call online, nor would she ever agree to meet in person, and always made up some excuse. All she'd ever done was send me a photo of herself when I practically begged her to because she didn't post personal pictures of herself online, and it seemed odd for me to be in a relationship with somebody I hadn't even seen.
Yesterday, I met with a couple friends of mine, two of whom knew of this relationshit I was in, and started joking. Then another friend joined in who didn't know about it, but he seemed to know a lot about her, and started dropping obvious suspicious hints about things only she had said to me. So I pulled him in private and asked him what was he talking about back then. He simply laughed it off and said that it was him all along and that he "got me pretty good".
"Did you really think any girl would ever date you? Any REAL girl? Hahaha! Get real dude. Look at you."
For him, it was all an elaborate joke that spanned two months, but for me, this one action of his not only broke my trust in him, but now because of him, I'll doubt twice as much whenever I'm talking to another girl online. I don't think I'll be able to trust anyone now, and I don't know what to do. Neither of my other two friends thought that his "joke" was funny and they were equally pissed at him, if not more, because they too were fooled and they were with me along for the whole entirety of those 2 months.
Should I get back at him for this? Or do I be the bigger man, cut myself off and pretend like nothing happened? I need your thoughts. Have you ever been catfished this bad before?

That guy has to be gay first of all. Don't fuck around with that online shit second of all... most of those "chicks" are actually men, to begin with (I guess you are aware of that now). I mean most of the time that is just obvious because a guy will go for a picture of your cock while a girl is probably going to want to see your face... but I wouldn't suggest fucking around online at all. I would suggest you learn your lesson... I mean this guy taught you a lesson. Learn that lesson and just openly admit you've learned your lesson about online bullshit. Again I would question that other guy's sexuality for the time and effort put into talking some dude into this so-called "relationship," but I think you should just own it and move past it.
This reminds me of my kid (he's barely over 18 now) trying to convince me he gets chicks because random girls message him on Instagram. Be me... trying to explain that even if the girl isn't some guy pretending to be a girl... she still just wants him to sign up to her onlyfans for $3.99/month.
Thanks man. I guess at the end of the day, I am to blame for it all anyways because as you said, he picked me for a reason to play his prank on, even though he's said that I still played pretty smart given that I didn't share any nudes unlike some other guys he catfished.

Smart thinking. I've known the guy for 4 years now, and I guess I am the one to blame for letting him in so close. He's met my family, he was one of the closest people I've ever known, and he was that one best guy friend every guy has with whom you share everything. But over time, he's grown bitter and resentful ever since he got a job and started thinking of himself as someone who's above it all. Even when he talks now, there isn't a shred of humility in his tone and it's sad to see how much of an arrogant prick he really has turned into. The good friend I once knew is long gone.
If I so have wanted to, I'd have ruined his life a long time ago, given that how much I know about him already these past few years, but I'm not the sort of person to do that sort of thing. I'll still keep your advice in mind and wait for the optimal time to strike. What he did to me, some may say is unforgivable and is a direct violation of every single bro code in existence, because when I asked him about it later last night, he once again, brought up the same girl I liked a couple of months ago, saying something along the lines of "I already told you before. If I can't have her, you can't either. She may have liked you back, but after the shit I made you pull through that other girl, blueballing her and all, she doesn't want anything to do with you now."
I have had to do this in a work place setting. His intentions were to bully me into quitting. Even though he is still employed, I have managed to keep my job long enough to replace him as supervisor when he soon retires. I will then have the most seniority over those I will manage.
Some people are just cruel and it sounds like this ‘friend’ is anything but. I cannot think of a good way to get back at them but I do hope you find a solution that gives you closure.
I have always followed the rule on all social media, dating apps, etc that “Unless you have hard evidence otherwise then every female you talk to is actually an overweight lorry’s driver with bad personal hygiene called Nigel or Trevor.”

He definitely broke the bro code. You can screw with each other, but to a point, but he let it go way too far. Then to rub it in your face with comments only “she” would know. Not cool. You can cut ties. If you still like the guy at all. But get back at him equal to the embarrassment you feel he did to you. You mentioned you know the guy well, think what would hit him like you feel. No more. Is he in a relationship or looking? You could do like we did back in the day and post his contact info on a site for his opposite companion type. If he likes girls then post on s&m or something embarrassing to him site for guys or girls if he likes guys. After two months of him complaining, drop the bomb, hand him a paper with the login for the site and say something like: its not cool for a friend to screw with another friend’s personal life is it!

That's a really good idea I can definitely try lmao. And yeah, he is currently single and looking to date some girl. He has a few crushes, but almost all of them are either taken, engaged or interested in someone else. One of the reasons why he targeted me for this "prank" was because a girl I was talking to a few months back liked me and I liked her back, so he felt jealous or something and wanted to get me out of the way.
Now he knew I'm a loyal guy through and through, and even though me and that other girl weren't dating yet, there was obvious chemistry between us, and he decided to strike when we were having some problems, so when she asked me out finally, I was already dating that other girl and I had to reject her. She understood obviously, but naturally, she stopped talking to me and grew resentful, for obvious reasons, which is exactly what he wanted; to get me out of the way.
Give him a drink in public filled with laxative. Bring one for yourself without the laxative in it and start filming him shitting himself. Then send the video to his manager. Good luck!

The reason he said that is because in our friends' circle, I'm the only guy who rocks a different style than the others. While the others have a beard, wear loose clothes, lots of bracelets and generally look older for their age, I'm cleanshaven, I have a more mature way of dressing up, and I look younger for my age. That doesn't mean that I'm unattractive, by any means, but I don't conform to many of the nowadays' standards of beauty in men, and some people who like my style, appreciate me being different.
Another reason why he said that is because he's still salty about that other girl who I was friends with a few months back liking me instead of him, and when I told him to back off and let me try and woo her instead - which worked. Now instead of abiding by the bro code and letting your bro have his shot, he pretended to be another girl and get her out of the way instead. All he said was "if I can't have her, you can't either. And now she hates you and thinks you're a fuckboy, so my work here is done."
