Trying to reconnect with an old friend?

Ok so I took everyone's advice and reached out to my old friend by text and they responded to let me know they're coming into town on New Year's Day and would like to meet up. That being said I'm going to look at this as an opportunity to be honest and truthful with how poorly I treated them and don't want to pretend it wasn't a big deal. I'm not expecting them to forgive me and I'm just grateful they're giving me a chance to meet with them and hopefully let them know. Thank you all again.

yes i do and i'm just scared. i just don't know how to go about trying to reconnect... like ask if they want to meet up? i really missed them because they really had my best intentions at heart and i just wasn't ready to open up. and now i moved another city a couple of hours away for work and school which is where i'm going to be for another year and i'm in a better place in my life and just wanted to share that with them. i guess it's worth a try.

I think the best approach is to just not get ahead in your mind, first things first...

just reach, say hi... find out if they can and want to talk, and if they're okay with that... then just take it from there

ok thank you. i will try that. i'm going to be going back to the town where i used to live for a couple of day in the new year and i'll just put it out there and see if they would like to meet up. thank you again and how you simplified it really helped.

i wasn't ready for any kind of commitment at the time and wasn't in a good place in my life. and i wasn't very truthful and honest with them about that and it weighs heavy on me because i know in my heart if i was them my actions would have hurt me. i'm really ashamed of myself for treating another person like that i now that i'm in a better place in my life i want to be honest with them and tell them the truth. i just don't know if they will give me a chance.

thanks for asking because i wasn't sure how to post a question. i was just wondering about reaching out to an old friend who i lost contact with a few years ago. i wasn't in a good place in my life back then and even though they were trying to reach out to me i shut them out of my life. and now i'm in a better place in my life i wanted to reach out to them to see if they would have time to catch up with me and hopefully give me a chance to explain why i wasn't able to really talk to them about where i was at in my life. it just bother me that i treated them so poorly and if anything to apologize to them and wish them all the best.
