How do I start a conversation with him he’s so confusing?

I like this guy at work I just can’t tell if he likes me back he always smiles and waves if I smile and wave at him he always only ever says hi to me no other girls in the front or any other cashiers and I had a little talk with him too the other day he helped me with something but like he never really started a conversation with me he always say hi Victoria and see ya victoria but not a whole conversation or ask me anything but like he tries talking to me sometimes he asks where a certain manager is knowing damn well I wouldn’t know he was grabbing water the other day he goes hi Victoria and I’m like hi Mike and I asked if the deli was busy he said no clue then today he said hi and he was a wearing a t shirt I asked if he wasn’t cold? And all he said was nope like he gave me cold answers twice but then he looks at me very often and then after that while leaving walking past me he goes see ya Victoria and I was like bye take care I’m just confused does he sound interested or not? He’s so quiet and awkward around me never like that with other people I don't know if I should give up or if not how to talk to him
