Why do you think someone wants to focus on themselves? Is this the polite way to reject someone? Or does he really have issues with himself, how can I figure it out?
Not necessarily they are not interested in you, but they may have other priorities at the moment, such as pursuing their dreams or other aspects of their life, sometimes relationships can be time consuming. They may want to come back after they have achieved something.
Sometimes it is there way or rejecting you but sometimes they were so used to putting others before themselves that they ended up neglecting themselves in the process and it might have caused them to gain weight or become depressed so they need time to just focus on themselves to get better
There is nothing to figure out. Just take the L and move on. Using that excuse signals a lack of creativity on his part.. Maybe he has some real issues he needs to handle before he is ready to date. Maybe he is just getting rid of you. Bottom line: he is not interested.
