Are those the only type of men in existence?

I know stereotypical "bad boys", involved in substances use and gangs and stuff who are really good and kind people when you get to know them and someone very close to me in my life got married to a man like that despite her family's disapproval. A decade later they are still happily married with two kids and he has been sober and out of the gang lifestyle for some time now. But even when he was involved with those he still treated her really well.

And then there are corporate men who treat their partners like shit despite being the pinnacle of a successful gentleman. College educated, well-paying job, comes from a family with good status, dresses nice knows his etiquette, is funny and charming... then behind closed doors, is an abusive and misogynistic prick.

The guys you are so convinced are "bad boys" may be better than you as people once you get to know them.

i like good men, but the problem with the bad boy, good guy thing is they can also both act like the other. bad boys acting bad sometimes can have a heart of gold and sometimes good guys can be the dbags and the good guy act just that an act. people aren't always what they seem, been there done that, working in healthcare with coworkers, patients you see people for who they are not who they pretend to be, because when it's an act that facade falls hard and fast.
