Guys, Distance?

Dude I’m seeing for only 2 months has just shut me out. Says it’s because he’s got life stuff (is true) but he was open before and now he’s telling me he’s afraid he’s a burden and can’t give me what I want. I knew what his life looked like when we started. Is he just softening the blow of a breakup? He’s still texting me his whereabouts and little things but there’s a shift in emotion.

I’m thinking either…


1. He’s trying to be considerate, putting your needs and happiness before his own, truly believing that you’d be better with someone else.


2. He has a low self-esteem and this is him self-sabotaging, letting you go because he doesn’t think he’s good enough for you.


3. This is a smokescreen. He has lost his feelings for you and is trying to soften the blow before an eventual break up.

If it’s the latter, some people just don’t understand that drawing out the break up is only going to make things more hurtful or more awkward.

I believe that if a relationship is done, the breakup should be straightforward and concise.

No need to waste everybody’s time.

A breakup is a breakup. It sucks. So just rip the bandaid off if you’re going to do it.

That’s my philosophy on it at least.
