So there i was, about to leave Barnes and noble. Kid keeps looking around and calmly but curiously saying "Mommy?" as a man takes him outside. I thought nothing about it until a couple came thinking a kidnapping was in progress.

Sooo that would be bad but it only occurred to me that could have been the case. What would i do? At least get a description but trying to beat a man's ass that's taller than me or has a gun to his back isn't in the cards. So, what y'all gonna do? Something or nothin?

You are in a store so there's more people there both costumers and employees.

Talk to the employees and tell them about it, stores often have security so you can also ask to talk to security and tell them your suspicions.

You can also try to take a picture of the child and the man with your cell phone, make sure their faces are visible, make it has if you were taking a picture of something else not them (books or some object that makes since to take a photo of, for example art work if any is present) or someone else (if you are with friends or family in the store, or maybe someone in the store can help you).

Balance the possibilities:

1. Kid just misses mommy.
2. Child is being snatched.

The possibility of #2 is such that a confrontation or a call to the police is warranted, barring any other info.

Personally as a mother myself, I wouldn't hesitate in getting involved in asking the individual who and what he was.

What exactly was the so called mother doing whilst this was taking place?

She was outside? She was right there and the dad was just getting his kid out. She wasn't smoking, she just happen to be outside

I would get the tag on vehicle and call 911 and tell them that info and let police check it out
