Hard to say with more context on the relationship. I've been married 35 years. I've often said my wife saved my life, and she hates it and asked me to stop. I did, but it's still true. Had I not found her, I would have drank myself to death by now. Now I have no idea what your story is with this guy, but that's what it means when I say it.
Firstly it depends upon the kind of relationship you have with him. If a guy friend is saying that he might me trying to flatter you or hitting on you. If your boyfriend is saying that he loves you a lot I guess. And if an ex he might be missing you genuinely or might be horny. Just my guess 😄
That you haven't tried to poison him yet? Ergo his heart is still beating because you haven't tried to stop it's beating yet.
