What's the difference between being confident and stuck up?

Confidence is making healthy eye contact, being engaging, being sure of your abilities, and taking chances because you believe you can pull through.

Being "stuck up" is pretty much arrogance(sense of entitlement) and belittling people just because you don't find them attractive. There is one stuck up girl I see on a regular basis, and it seems like she tries to avoid my eyes like I'm some creep. We don't even say "Hi" or anything. I've had it with her, and started ignoring her back. I don't care how pretty she is.

Confidence in that sense is being comfortable with who you are and what you can do.

Stuck up is a person who believes they're "better" than everyone else and treats people as though they are inferior to them.

But a lot of girls especially gets this label when guys approach her and she doesn't talk to them. I wouldn't say she's stuck up but maybe she simply doesn't want to deal with guys hitting on her.

So to save a guy's ego he says "she's stuck up." Which to me is misleading.

I can see the difference usually. Being confidant does not mean putting people down or snubbing them. When someone is stuck up they usually have 0 empathy or sympathy for people.
