How would you feel if your boyfriend lead you to believe he wrote something heart felt but it was actually copied from a site?

He gave me a bday card and I was about to cry at how loving it sounded but then some of it didn't sound like him because there's some things he's mentioned that we have never done before, and i looked it up and realized its copied word for word. Would you be pissed and start wondering if his feelings are even real or am i overreacting?

I would be weirded out and irritated yes … you can’t write a short birthday message for your literal girlfriend? Or even if you’re not good with words you could have used something a bit more creative like song lyrics or something not just some message from the internet

We are long distance. He said “your presence is the only thing that quiets me.” I was like wait but we never met lol but he does do things to try and impress me like on video i like a certain thing he does so he does it on purpose. But the presence thing makes me think wow he's fake for that bc we have never met lol

I think it's the thought that counts. I guess he wanted to send you the best letter he could and he felt that this one was better than anything he could write.

Well the reason I caught it was because he says “your presence is what quiets me” or something along those lines but we are long distance and have never met lol thats what made me google it lol. But he is also known to do things to impress me so I don't know.

I asked him if its from the heart or a poem. And he said from the heart. That i got real quiet and he said “what I do is grab things from movies I see” and then I said yeah but its from a poem. He said “no its not. I actually was going to ask my friend for a poem but i didn't.” Im like i saw the poem, its word for word. I dont mind that part but what I do mind is the lying. He started doing this thing he does when he gets nervous and hung up. Lol he sounds embarrassed.

When i asked if its from a poem, he said “no way then that would mean it didn't come from the heart and not how i really feel.” Hmmm

Yeah, the lying is the worst part of it. That's bad. Maybe have a talk about the importance of honesty in your relationship. Not great that he tried to keep up the lie. I understand his embarrassment.
