Maybe they think that woman us out of their league. Could also be they are just intimidated by her because of her beauty. Maybe they are afraid of complimenting her and coming off as hitting on her. Those are all possibilities I suppose. Most guys I see don't have much of an issue with it but I work in a bar so they have had drinks and loosened up. I'm sure that is much different in the real world when no alcohol is involved.
